Case Eltel Networks Lower costs and increased delivery service Eltel Networks started its cooperation with Symbrio in 2005 and thus introduced the purchasing and invoice handling system bearing the same name. The result, according to Head of Purchase Mats Björkman, is a better operative interface towards the suppliers. “The primary winnings are the decreased transaction costs related to the purchasing process”, says Mr Björkman. “In addition, the system has helped us increase the proportion of deliveries on time, which is very important to our business.” A more interactive relationship with suppliers Eltel’s purchasing organization is based on a central function which handles the strategic relationship with suppliers and negotiation of contracts, while the day-to-day orders of material are made by about 800 employees. Up till now, about 40 of Eltel’s suppliers are connected to Symbrio where they exchange orders, order responses, dispatch advices and invoices. “With a larger number of suppliers visible to our staff it is easier to find the right articles, while at the same time articles get chosen from the agreed product ranges and we can decrease “maverick buying””, says Mr Björkman, who also has experienced a positive change in the relation to the suppliers. “Most of our suppliers feel that the switch-over to e-business is something positive. The relationship is more interactive now than before, thanks to the simplicity in communicating through Symbrio.” Succesful implementation process Being asked about the Symbrio implementation process Mr Björkman comments: “The project as a whole went really well, and in line with the time and financial plan that we had made beforehand. Key factors for success were to carefully specify the scope of the project from the beginning and then stick to the plan, make decisions effectively and let all participants focus on the task. We felt a mutual understanding between us and Symbrio where we could solve problems together quickly and smoothly.” |
